Movie Night
The Wednesday movie (7:00 PM at
the Ramada) is The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming, a 1966
comedy staring Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Alan Arkin and
Jonathan Winters. The film depicts the chaos following the
grounding of a Soviet submarine on a small island off the coast
of New Engand during the Cold War.
Thanks to Jane & Eric Ellingson for sponsoring
this event.
Pledge to Purchase Land on Esperanza Boulevard
A reminder that your pledges should be returned to Dave
Sielken by March 30. The committee needs to
know if enough money will be available to purchase the land, so please
pledge now even though the specifics of the purchase
arrangement may not be determined for at least several weeks.
Please consider that purchasing the land is the best way to
prevent any future development of the land that would disrupt
the quiet lifestyle we enjoy in EE. Every donation, no matter
its size, helps the cause. As of March 23, 102 pledges have been
received. If you have not received your pledge letter and want
to download a copy or want to view the most recent FAQs, click
here.
Neighborhood Watch Needs You
Mary Beth Wallace, head of EE's Neighborhood Watch, is
looking for a few more volunteers to be block captains.
Neighborhood Watch is a really valuable service, especially as
we move into the months when many residents are away. It's also
a great way to meet some of your neighbors. If you are
interested in becoming a block captain, please contact Mary Beth
at 520-399-0299.
Enhancement Team News
After 10 years as chair of the Enhancement Team, Barb
McCalpin has decided to retire. We thank Barb for all
of her hard work in guiding the efforts of the Team. Many of the
improvements to EE and especially the Ramada happened during her
tenure. We also thank Louise McCabe for serving
as treasurer for several years. Jackie Rautio has
volunteered to chair the committee and Marla Ries to
be the treasurer. We know they will both do a great job.
Feeding Wildlife in Pima County
A reminder that feeding wildlife is illegal. Fines of $300 and
more can be levied against anyone found to be feeding or
attracting wildlife. The most destructive animals to attract by
providing food or water are Javelinas, judging from the damage a
herd of them did recently in an EE front yard. Feeding birds
and tree squirrels is legal, but the food must not be allowed to
fall to the ground outside your courtyard walls or you will be
at risk of being cited for violation of the Pima County
ordinance.
Green Valley Council Report
Steve Christy, Green Valley's representative on the Pima County
Board of Supervisors, supports Senate Bill 1147 which would
raise the sales tax by one-half cent and direct the revenues to
the Regional Transportation Authority with the mandate to
develop a road repair program.
Anyone interested in supporting
the bill should contact Michelle Ugenti-Rita (mugenti-rita@azleg.gov),
chair of the State
House Ways and Means Committee.
